Dr. Toki is a fluid dynamics researcher specializing in aerospace and defense applications, with expertise in high-fidelity computational modeling. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo, where he studied liquid rocket engine flows and, during his doctoral research, collaborated with JAXA to develop experimental setups for injectors and cooling channels, alongside conducting direct numerical simulations (DNS) to inform thermal design. Since 2019, he has worked in the United States, first as a postdoctoral scholar at Caltech collaborating with NASA JPL on high-pressure species diffusion, and currently at Purdue University, where his research focuses on hypersonic flows, including large-eddy and direct numerical simulations, as well as the development of computational tools that account for chemical reactions. His work aims to improve predictive capabilities and guide thermal design in extreme flight regimes.

Takahiko Toki combines large-scale high-fidelity simulations with analytical modeling. His research interests include high-speed aerodynamics, vortex dynamics, thermo-acoustics, nonlinear acoustics, compressible turbulence, turbulent mixing and heat-and-mass transfer, and numerical methods for complex geometries.
