“HFES Field Trip - Flight simulator at Purdue Airport”
Field Trip

Free for HFES members!

We'll be visiting the Simulator building at Purdue to become familiar with the range of simulators there and the data-gathering opportunities that flight simulators can provide. The Simulator building has been completely renovated over the summer; it now houses 6 brand-new advanced flight training platforms, including a Phenom corporate jet, a Canadair Regional Jet airline trainer, and 4 Cirrus primary/instrument flight trainers. Additionally, there are also a few older Franca instrument flight training devices. Depending on simulator availability, we will hopefully be able to fly the simulators for a few minutes each, in order to see how they operate. Only a few universities in the country have systems as advanced and as close to campus as the ones we have.

Date: 16Nov2011
Time: 2-3pm
Venue: SIML

The building name is Simulator (abbreviated SIML). Different simulators are housed in different rooms, but we'll meet in the lobby of the simulator building... that's the first room when you walk in the door.
Follow the map link:

there's an arrow that says "To SIML." The building is a little bit further down Aviation Drive than the arrow, but not too much. There's an airplane wing and a flag right outside of the building, so it's pretty hard to miss. If you need a ride, please say that in the RSVP form below. For those who need a ride, we will depart from GRIS 201 at 1:30pm sharply.
