Products
General Description
Based on your inputs, your project requires permanent erosion control products. These materials have an indefinate service life. They are made of polypropylene, extruded monofilaments of plastic, or other plastic. PERMs (Permanent Erosion Control Revegetation Mats) are used on sites where the long term resistance of unreinforced vegatation is insufficient. Typically, your site would have highly turbulent or high velocity flow.
The point is that none of these materials degrade. Unlike the temporary products, the designer can count on the long term resistance of the mat in addition to the resistance provided by the vegetation alone. For intermediate flow channels(6-10 ft/s), these products provide an aesthetically pleasing and economic alternative to using hard armor (riprap, concrete blocks, or gabions).
