COMPOSITES

Composites mainly acts as the manufacturing division of the aerodynamic team, constructing the wings, nosecone, sidepods, and undertray of the aero package, as well as ancillary carbon fiber parts like the floorpan, firewall, and other cosmetic and non-structural pieces. The main manufacturing methods the composites team uses is vacuum resin infusion, in which dry carbon fiber is injected with epoxy resin under vacuum pressure and left to cure overnight, as well as wet layup molding process, where the fiber is soaked in resin prior to being placed into the mold and cured under atmospheric pressure.
