Dr. Vikram Jain is an Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at Purdue University. Before joining Purdue, he was a Principal Engineer at TSMC in San Jose, California, where he worked on industrial AI acceleration and compute-in-memory architectures. Dr. Jain completed his postdoctoral research at the UC Berkeley SLICE Lab and the Berkeley Wireless Research Center (BWRC), focusing on chiplet systems. During his time at Berkeley, he taught the IC Design Project class (guiding students through chip tapeouts) and co-instructed the Hardware for Machine Learning course.
He received his Ph.D. from KU Leuven's MICAS Laboratories, where his doctoral research focused on implementing energy-efficient digital accelerators and RISC-V processors for machine learning applications at the edge. He was also a visiting researcher at the Integrated Systems Laboratory (IIS) at ETH Zurich, where he worked on implementing networks-on-chip. He received his M.Sc. degree in Embedded Electronics Systems Design from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden.
His academic and professional work is recognized internationally, with publications in top-tier venues including ISSCC, JSSC, VLSI, HPCA, and DAC. Dr. Jain is a recipient of the prestigious IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS) Predoctoral Achievement Award and the Swedish Institute Research Fellowship.
