Level 2: AI-Knowledge Requirement
Required:
At least two of the following courses:
- CS 159 Programming Applications for Engineers
- MA 265 Linear Algebra
- NUCL 205 Radiation Detection Lab
- New course (Fall 2026) Fundamentals of Artificial and Natural Intelligence in Nuclear Engineering
Level 3: AI-Subject Requirements
Required: At least one of the following courses:
- NUCL 325 Nuclear Material Lab
- NUCL 410 Introduction to Reactor Theory and Applications
- NUCL 497 Introduction to Computational Physics
- NUCL 597 Big Data and Machine Learning in Engineering
Level 4: AI-Builder Requirement
All NE students are already required to complete a capstone project for their bachelor’s degree. The School of NE will introduce new AI elements in the following design courses:
NUCL 449 / 450 Senior Design. NE students enrolled in this senior design course will be asked to formalize AI usage for data analysis, code development, documentation, with explicit validation and ethics requirements.
