Level 4: AI-Builder Requirement
All ECE students are already required to complete a capstone project for their bachelor’s degree. The School of ECE will introduce new AI elements in the following design courses:
Senior Design: Will include new requirements for students to (1) Use AI to explore design alternatives, component selection, and market research; (2) Use AI to generate boilerplate code for microcontrollers and debugging logics; (3) Use AI to write reports and provide reviews.
VIP: For projects involving mathematical modeling, data analysis, simulation, signal processing, and machine intelligence, students will be asked to use AI tools to formulate the problem and develop solutions.
Elective Projects: Depending on the project, AI will assist in various ways. For example, students will use AI tools to optimize component placement or routing on PCBs; Another example: students will use machine learning algorithms to tune controller parameters.
