Level 1: AI-Exposure Requirement

Complete the First Engineering Requirement by following one of the four pathways:

  • ENGR 13100 and ENGR 13200
  • ENGR 13000
  • ENGR 13300 + VIP/EPICS
  • ENGR 16100 and ENGR 16200

Topics covered: Knowledge about how AI works; Critical thinking; Assess and evaluate AI responses; Data-informed decision making; Ethical aspects of AI.

Level 2: AI-Knowledge Requirement

Take all the following classes which include topics on AI foundations in the context of Civil and Construction Engineering:

  • CEM 18000 Construction Engineering Pre-Professional Development
  • CCE 22000 (formerly CEM 28000) Construction Engineering Professional Development I
  • CCE 32000 (formerly CEM 38000) Construction Engineering Professional Development II
  • CE 52200 Computer Applications in Construction

Take at least two of the following classes to ensure adequate foundations of AI.

  • MA 26500 Linear Algebra
  • STAT 51100 Statistical Methods
  • CS 15900 C Programming

Level 3: AI-Subject Requirements

Take at least two of the following classes which demonstrate how AI is used in the subject.

  • CE 54300 Coastal Engineering

  • CEM 35100 Foundations of Architectural Design
  • CEM 40100 Critical Thinking in Construction Engineering

Level 4: AI-Builder Requirement

Students are required to complete at least one of the following classes to gain adequate exposure to how AI is used in projects.

  • VIP ENGR 279 / 379 / 479 — Data Science for Smart Cities
  • CEM 42501 Construction Engineering Capstone I
  • CEM 42502 Construction Engineering Capstone II
