Level 4: AI-Builder Requirement
All BME students are already required to complete a capstone project for their bachelor’s degree. The School of BME will introduce new AI elements in the following design courses:
BME 38900 Junior Design. BME will stress:
-
How to use AI to brainstorm ideas and collect information,
- Information on healthcare needs, current literature, patent landscape, market analyses
-
How to use AI as a math / data assistant;
- Use AI to synthesize/organize from the literature, or to analyze students’ own data that they gather during iterative design.
-
How to use AI as a code assistant, and
- Use AI to develop scripts for data processing; to debug/troubleshoot code; comment and communicate code functions/structure.
-
How to use AI as a writing assistant.
- Use AI to proofread, edit, or give feedback with rationale.
- Use AI to help rephrase writing for different purposes (e.g. class report vs. design report vs. external communication with collaborators/sponsors vs. patent applications etc.)
