CaffIEne Connect:
CaffIEne Connect fosters organic conversations between IE grad students and faculty — over great coffee and even better community spirit.
Sneak Peek into IEGSO work: Social Trips
IEGSO has organized two social trips for graduate Industrial Engineering students to leave the busy student life behind and delve into American culture.
In Fall 2024 (pictures on the left), we travelled to the bustling city of Chicago. Arriving in Chicago, everyone had a strengthening sip of coffee in the Starbucks Reserve Roastery. Then we moved on to see the Navy Pier, the DuSable bridge, and the surrounding Skyscrapers, followed by lunch at Giordano's. Having eaten the first Deep Dish pizza of our lives, we moved on to see the Chicago Bean at Cloud Gate Park. Then we enjoyed a stroll along the River Walk and ended at the Chicago Christkindle Market for hot chocolate.
In Spring 2025 (pictures on the right), IEGSO hosted a trip for our graduate student body to travel to the Chicago Motor Show. Initially intended to support the Edwardson School of Industrial Engineering Mentorship as a social event, popular demand opened the event up to all students. We had a day full of novelty and fun, were chauffeured through an obstacle course by a professional driver in an SUV, saw the smallest car publicly purchasable in the US (see picture), and were driven in an electric vehicle for the first time.
