On the following day, Friday, May 23rd, Purdue will host the 11th Great Lakes Geotechnical and Geo-environmental Conference (GLGGC2003) with the theme Advances in Characterizing and Engineering Problem Soils.  The morning keynote speaker will be Victor Milligan giving the 2002 Terzaghi Lecture with the topic Some Uncertainties in Embankment Dam Engineering. Nine other presentations are slated for the GLGGC including an afternoon keynote talk on Engineering Properties of Fibrous Peats by Gholamreza Mesri, the Ralph Peck Professor of Civil Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
