Roy earned his PhD from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and his B. Tech. Degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He previously worked at Texas Instruments and held visiting faculty positions at Intel and the University of California, Berkeley, as well as an adjunct faculty position at the University of Texas, Dallas. Roy is a fellow of the IEEE and has earned many awards from field organizations, his alma mater, and Purdue University. His recent awards include the inaugural Innovation Award, Aristotle Award, and Technical Excellence Award, all from the Semiconductor Research Corporation, the Distinguished Alumnus Award from IIT, Kharagpur, and the Arden Bement Research Award which is the most prestigious award in applied science and engineering given by Purdue University.
