At the JTRP Executive Committee Meeting on September 20, 2024, an update on the Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer Project was provided by the Advancing Sustainability through Powered Infrastructure for Roadway Electrification (ASPIRE) Research Team consisting of Nadia Gkritza, John Haddock, Steve Pekarek, Dionysios Aliprantis , and Aaron Brovont. Agency roadside cameras play a critical role in traffic incident management by helping dispatchers quickly identify the precise location of incidents when receiving reports from motorists with varying levels of spatial accuracy. During real-time incident dispatching, reducing the time it takes to identify the most relevant cameras and setting their view on the incident is an important opportunity to improve incident management dispatch times.

Researchers from Purdue's Joint Transportation Research Program (JTRP) and across the globe are employing data analytics, connected technologies and other innovations to help make intersections safer and more efficient.

In order to advance INDOT's friction testing program to cover the entire highway system, this study addressed the following emerging challenges:

Highway construction and maintenance workzones often have a number of injuries and fatalities involving motorists and construction workers. Despite the benefits of traditional workzone safety measures like barriers and signage, there is a need for additional crash mitigation equipment.

To save time and money on the repair of concrete highways, bridges & other structures, states are considering a Purdue innovation as an alternative to decades-old methods used for estimating when newly poured concrete is ready to withstand heavy traffic.

The Indiana Department of Transportation, Cummins, White Construction, and Purdue ceremoniously broke ground May 1 for a highway segment where Purdue engineers will test a system they designed to wirelessly provide power to a heavy-duty electric truck traveling at highway speeds.

The 110th Purdue Road School Transportation Conference and Expo was held on March 12-13, 2024. It was a record breaking year with more than 3,330 transportation professional representatives from state and local agencies, industry, and academia who attended in 2024.

INDOT was honored for being one of the Sweet 16 selections among the annual High Value Research Project submissions at this summer's American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Research Advisory Committee annual meeting in Chattanooga, Tenn.
