2. STUDENT PAPER COMPETITION

Submission to the Paper Competition is now open! Students should first submit an abstract according to the instructions provided in Step 1 above indicating you plan to submit a student paper. Then please submit your competition papers here.

Competition papers should be submitted by April 15, 2020. ANCRiSST 2020 will have a student paper competition to celebrate the innovation and drive of the students in the smart structures community. Papers should be 6-8 pages in length and will be submitted to one of the four categories described below. Winning papers in each category will be recognized at the conference.

Structural Health Monitoring
Submissions should emphasize the design of sensors, networks, or algorithms that can detect changes in the behavior of civil infrastructure systems.

Computer Vision and Machine Learning
Submissions should focus on techniques and applications for automated learning of structural information from visual data.

Real-Time Hybrid Simulation and Control
Submissions should feature the design, implementation, and application of methods for RTHS or structural control systems.

Programmable Materials and Structures
Submissions should focus on advancing the field of programmable structures and materials through computational or experimental work.

Those students who would like to participate must be the first author of the submitted work. Only one submission will be accepted from each student. Submissions to multiple categories will not be accepted. Papers should be submitted in PDF format, and prepared according to the template below. This template is available in Word and LaTex.

All submissions to the paper competition must be accompanied by a presentation of the work during the ANCRiSST 2020 conference. As such, students submitting to the paper competition must also submit the abstract of their work to the conference (above) and register to attend.

It is expected that authors will submit their abstracts prior to submitting their competition papers. When you are ready to submit your competition paper, simply navigate to the "My Account" portal of the submission site and select "Revise Abstract" on your previously submitted abstract. The paper can be uploaded by following the instructions in the revision portal.
