Use of Connected Vehicle Data for Deriving Operational Performance Measures of Traffic Signal Systems
Abstract
Indiana ingests approximately 13 billion connected vehicle (CV) records per month. This data is used to monitor the performance of Interstate Workzones, Winter Weather Impacts, and Traffic Signal Performance. This talk will focus on the use of CV data to monitor operational delay at traffic signals to prioritize opportunities for re-timing and infrastructure upgrades. Selected case studies will be presented with a focus on the West Street Arterial in Indianapolis that has been impacted by the closure of the I65-I70 Interchange in Downtown Indianapolis.
Bio
Darcy Bullock is the Lyles Family Professor of Civil Engineering at Purdue University and serves as the director of the Joint Transportation Research Program (JTRP). Bullock is a Registered Professional Engineer in Indiana and has 30 years of experience working closely with academia, transportation agencies, and private sector partners in the area of transportation systems and big data analytics.
