ADAS and Automated Driving Activities at Aptiv
Abstract
The market of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving (AD) technologies is growing rapidly. In this talk, we will present the scalability of Aptiv's ADAS/AD architectures. We will also discuss the safety of vulnerable road user (VRU) in the US, and the challenges involved in developing highly automated parking systems, a feature that will benefit millions of vehicle drivers in the future. Aptiv is a global technology company enabling the future of mobility, with more than 200,000 employees across 131 manufacturing facilities and 11 major technical centers worldwide, including the Indiana Technical Center in Carmel, Indiana. We address mobility’s toughest challenges through our deep software and systems integration expertise, delivering market relevant solutions for our customers. Aptiv's flexible and scalable solutions are helping to accelerate the adoption of Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) globally.
Bio
Walter Kosiak is an Engineering Manager at Aptiv. He has worked at Aptiv for the duration of his career in the fields of integrated circuit design, passive safety, active safety & driver assistance, and automated vehicles. His areas of expertise include ADAS/AD feature/function algorithms, threat assessment and warning algorithms, radar and radar-vision fusion, automotive adaptive cruise control systems, DSRC-based V2X communication, map-based electronic horizon technology, and rapid prototyping systems for automotive systems development. Mr. Kosiak is an inventor on 24 US Patents and was a member of the team that completed the first US coast-to-coast automated drive in 2015.
Qian Wang is a Feature Development Engineer at Aptiv, where he is currently working on motion planning for automated valet parking. Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. degree from Ohio State University, and he has published 20+ peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, and holds 10+ patents. Dr. Wang’s current research interests include risk-aware motion planning and decision-making, advanced summon, road user’s trajectory prediction, and parking space finding and selection.
Tanto Sugiarto is a Software Engineer at Aptiv, where he is focused on developing motion planning algorithms for autonomous parking. He holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Ohio State University. Prior to working with the autonomous team, he worked as a motor control engineer for hybrid vehicle propulsion, where he developed sensor-less algorithms for traction drive and electrical compressors.
