SURGE - Caribbean Region 

Blended Intensive Program: Sustainability and Resilience in the Colombian Caribbean, designed for undergraduate and graduate students from national and international universities.

Three cities, one Caribbean: Cartagena, Santa Marta, and Barranquilla become a natural classroom where a sustainable future comes to life. This program integrates a collaborative virtual phase, an immersive on-site phase in Colombia, and a complementary virtual phase focused on prototyping sustainable solutions.

Through active methodologies such as Design Thinking and Project-Based Learning, participants will strengthen intercultural competencies, international teamwork skills, and innovation with territorial impact.

Duration: 9 weeks
Modality: Synchronous and asynchronous classes + On-site (Academic route through Santa Marta, Barranquilla, and Cartagena).

Virtual Phase: June 1 – July 3, 2026 (16 hours)
On-site Phase: July 6 – July 17, 2026
Complementary Virtual Phase: July 27 – October 9, 2026

Target Audience: Senior undergraduate and graduate students with Spanish language proficiency.

Certification: Digital badges

Registration Fee: 785 USD

The fee includes:

  • Accommodation (breakfast included) in the three cities of the academic route

  • Local intercity transportation

  • Refreshments

  • Program enrollment and academic materials

  • Participation in academic and cultural activities during the on-site phase

The fee does not include airfare, international health insurance, or main meals.

Application Requirements:

  • Enrollment in a higher education institution (final years of undergraduate or graduate studies)

  • Spanish language proficiency

  • Availability to participate in all three phases of the program

  • Valid health insurance certificate (for Colombian students) or International Medical Insurance (for international students)

  • Be of legal age
