Jorge Rojas

At Purdue, Jorge Rojas earned his bachelor's (2009) and master's (2021) degrees, and at National University of Engineering, Peru, he received a master's degree (2023) — all in civil engineering. For his doctoral work, he returned to Purdue, where he currently is working in close collaboration with industry partners to address pressing problems in the construction industry regarding safety, sustainability, and affordable housing. His investigation aims to develop a novel digital twin architecture for 3D concrete printing to improve safety by removing human workers from high-risk exposure activities. At the same time, he aims to advance technologies that improve construction efficiency and affordability, ultimately benefiting end users through more accessible housing solutions. Rojas also has worked on a side project with the Indiana Department of Transportation, assessing mobile barrier technologies to protect on-ground workers in case of intrusion. Earlier this year, he presented at the CEGSAG Research Symposium for the first time, and he will share his work at two other events in 2025. At Purdue, he has volunteered at Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day and with the Women in Engineering Program and Imagination Station. His 12 years of diverse industry experience have positioned him to bring a practical and engaging perspective to the classroom. He feels a deep responsibility to give back, and as a professor, he is committed to changing the narrative for students who face barriers by serving as a visible and accessible role model.
