Hafiz Oyedimeji Oyediran

Hafiz Oyediran received his Bachelor's in Building (2013) and Master's in Construction Management (2017) from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He anticipates completing his PhD in Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) in December 2024. His innovative research addresses critical industry challenges, focusing on enhancing safety, efficiency, and productivity on construction sites through the use of robots and related technologies. Hafiz developed a framework integrating 4D BIM with robot task planning to plan and simulate robot operations considering the spatiotemporal conditions of the construction site. He is also working on developing context-aware systems to detect and mitigate safety hazards associated with the use of autonomous robots during the planning stages. In his future academic career, he plans to incorporate the use of Ontology and Large Language Models for data storage and retrieval to empower autonomous robots with advanced decision-making capabilities during their operations. As co-founder and director of the BIM Africa Initiative, Hafiz provides educational awareness, training, and mentorship to thousands across Africa. Through UNL and the Architecture, Construction, and Engineering (ACE) Mentor Program of America, he has introduced over 150 high school students in STEM to robotics. His teaching philosophy emphasizes real-world case studies, industry projects, and interactive lab sessions to promote engagement and respect for diverse perspectives. Hafiz's work bridges traditional construction methods with cutting-edge technologies, positioning him as a leader in the evolving field of construction engineering and management.
