What Purdue could do better is admitting more Black engineers, particularly in-state students. This is their land grant institution and they deserve to come to Purdue. 

Biography

Carol Stwalley, PhD PE, joined the MEP team in the fall of 2007. Carol's work includes developing a comprehensive database to evaluate MEP signature programs, as well as establishing trend lines in outreach, recruitment, enrollment, retention, and graduation rates for underrepresented students compared to the overall College of Engineering cohort.

She is currently a Co-Investigator for the NSF S-STEM program, "Rising Scholars: Web of Support used as an Indicator of Success in Engineering" awarded in fall of 2016. There are currently 16 active participants working toward a degree in engineering or other STEM majors. These students are moving through a best practice path of research and industrial internship to create a well-rounded graduate.

Dr. Stwalley's earned a BS, MS, and PhD in Agriculture and Biological Engineering from Purdue University, and her previous position was with the Women in Engineering Program at Purdue from 2000-2007.
