EPICS in IEEE

IEEE, the world’s largest professional organization, is dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. In 2009, IEEE became part of the EPICS family when EPICS in IEEE was established. EPICS in IEEE facilitates student design projects worldwide that impact millions of people through university and K12 initiatives.

The EPICS in the IEEE program has two calls for proposals each year. Information on the deadlines and proposal requirements can be found on the EPICS in IEEE website. EPICS in IEEE awards grants to university student groups to work on socially innovative projects that may address local community service needs, such as access and abilities, education and outreach, environment, and human services. Projects must involve a non-profit organization partner and have one IEEE member on the team. Collaboration with a local high school is also encouraged. Typical awards use EPICS in IEEE funding for project-related supplies (as opposed to personnel costs) with award amounts in the US $5,000 to US $10,000 range.

EPICS in IEEE offers a free training course to help those interested in applying for funding. This course provides information on how to design, develop, and execute a successful service-learning project for EPICS in IEEE.
