Hello everyone,
One of the most common issues EHS finds during building inspections and ISP visits is the misuse of electrical cords, both in the lab and in offices (e.g.: daisy chain, use as permanent rather than temporary solution, etc). Please see attached an OSHA Toolbox Talk on extension cords to raise awareness and help prevent their misuse. This document (Electrical Safety - Avoid Misuse of Extension Cords<https://engineering.purdue.edu/ChE/aboutus/safety/documents/2025-04-24-%20Extension%20cords%20safety>), is also available on the ChE safety website: https://engineering.purdue.edu/ChE/aboutus/safety under "Safety Resources"
Thank you,
Gabriela
On behalf of the ChE safety committee
