[Che-student-staff-list] Lessons learned - Summary of safety incidents reported in ChE (April-June)

Hello Everyone,

Please find attached a summary of the safety incidents and near misses reported to me from April 2022 to date. I hope that sharing this information with you will prevent similar situations from happening in the future. Please continue to report ALL safety incidents and near misses using the form Safety Incident/Near Miss Report<https://engineering.purdue.edu/ChE/aboutus/safety/documents/safety-incident-report-form-template.docx> posted on our website: https://engineering.purdue.edu/ChE/aboutus/safety under "Workplace Injury Information".
The May issue of the AIChE "Chemical Engineering Progress" has a good article on academic lab safety: "Translating Industrial Lab Safety Practices to Academia"; I attach a copy of the article to this email and encourage everyone to read it. While I was happy to see that we have already incorporated some of the elements mentioned in the article in our safety program, there is always space for improvement.
