Subject: new Research Blog pilot project

Good afternoon,

The Office of Research Communications, within the Office of Research, is pleased to announce that we are launching a new Research Blog pilot project<https://blog.research.purdue.edu/> and we hope you’ll take a look and spread the word. The blog is a new platform that we’ve created to help researchers share their recently published research and its impact.

For each post, we ask researchers to answer three questions: what they wanted to know in a particular piece of published research, what they found, and the significance of the findings.
ORC will lightly curate the information researchers provide and publish posts on a new ORC website that can be shared with social media, with institutes and centers, colleges and departments, and with Purdue Today for that team’s consideration. The content may also be shared with American Association of Universities, funding agencies, and other academic and research partners. Searchable posts may also help reporters looking for experts in a particular field. Researchers can learn more about the blog, and submit a post using an online form, at https://blog.research.purdue.edu/.

At this time, the blog is accepting submissions from Purdue researchers who are corresponding authors on recently published research (last six months) with a Journal Impact Factor of 10 or higher, and are also members of the Centers and Institutes at Discovery Park District, the Purdue Applied Research Institute, and the Institute for Physical AI. In the future, we may review or revise this criteria based upon our experiences in managing the blog.

We’re introducing the blog in a “soft launch,” as we expect some hiccups and changes along the way.  Among other things, the blog isn’t yet reachable through the ORC webpages, but should be connected in the near future. If you do see any errors, or have suggestions, please know that we welcome feedback and would be grateful for your review. And if you know of researchers who have produced work that meets the criteria for the blog, please feel free to share the link with them.
