TIPA-CORIA Consortium Workshop
The TIPA-CORIA Consortium Workshop was successfully held on October 21,2025 at the Kurz Purdue Technology Center. This major event brought together Purdue faculty members and 17 companies from South Korea, who were warmly welcomed by Purdue and Greater Lafayette officials, including Greg Deason, Chief Operating Officer of the Purdue Research Foundation; Erin Easter, Mayor of West Lafayette; and Tony Roswarski, Mayor of Lafayette.
The Technology and Information Promotion Agency (TIPA) has partnered with the CORIA Center at Purdue University to facilitate new connections and opportunities between Purdue principal investigators (PIs) and South Korean companies, promoting collaboration on research and development projects. During the session, Hoonbae Lee, Director of TIPA USA, shared valuable insights into the range of funding options and financial resource programs available to help Korean companies advance their technological and commercial initiatives. All collaborating projects will be funded by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Republic of Korea, through TIPA.
Speakers from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and Greater Lafayette Commerce discussed Indiana’s growing potential as a hub for collaboration and talent development. They emphasized the state’s incentive programs and the many benefits of forming strategic partnerships in the region.
In the second segment of the workshop, representatives from each company, together with their Purdue faculty collaborators, presented their organizational visions, research backgrounds, and technological focuses. The discussions highlighted how their combined expertise and technologies could drive interdisciplinary research that integrates scientific discovery, engineering innovation, and practical application.
The workshop was jointly organized by Professor Martin Byung-Guk Jun, Director of CORIA, and Hoonbae Lee, Director of TIPA USA. Through this collaboration, TIPA and CORIA seek to strengthen international partnerships that will drive research, development, and real-world implantation of advanced technologies in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
