Prof. Seung Ki Moon from Nanyang Technological University Visits Purdue for CORIA-MMRL seminar

Professor Seung Ki Moon from Nanyang Technological University School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Singapore, visited Purdue University for the CORIA-MMRL Seminar. His presentation, titled “Multimodal sensor fusion and machine learning for quality prediction in directed energy deposition” introduced recent advances in in-situ process monitoring that integrate acoustic, thermal, and vision sensors.

The seminar attracted faculty members, researchers, and students, and facilitated in-depth discussions on the role of multimodal sensor fusion and machine learning/deep learning in advancing quality prediction. The talk also emphasized the potential of digital twins for intelligent manufacturing systems.

Prof. Moon’s visit provided valuable insights into advanced manufacturing and further strengthened collaborative ties between Purdue University and Nanyang Technological University, laying the groundwork for future cooperation in smart manufacturing research.
