Meeting of Principal Investigators from Purdue Participating in the TIPA Global R&D Research Grant

On August 14, 2025, Prof. Martin Byung-Guk Jun, Director of CORIA, together with Dr. Hyunmin Park, hosted a meeting with Purdue University faculty members who were selected as principal investigators in Stage 1 of the 2025 Global R&D Research Grant (Technology Innovation Development Project for SMEs of South Korea), organized by the Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA).

Through this grant, CORIA supported collaborations between 44 Korean companies and Purdue professors, resulting in 17 successful consortia following the Phase 1 evaluation of the grant. The Purdue faculty members selected as principal investigators include Profs. Eui Won Bae, Yoo Yeon Won, Garam Kim, Byunghoo Jung, Woongkul Lee, Sooyeon Jung, Hosop Shin, and Sunghwan Lee. Although unable to attend the meeting due to prior commitments, Profs. Younghyun Kim and Seokcheon Lee are also included among the Phase 1 awardees.

During the meeting, Prof. Jun provided guidance on the next steps following the Phase 1 selection, including details of the international agreement process, deposit requirements, and key factors for Phase 2. He also outlined necessary documentation and consolidated questions and requests from Purdue’s PIs to be communicated with the Korean companies and TIPA administration team.

Prof. Jun emphasized, “Research proposals have been initiated across diverse topics aligned with CORIA’s mission, including semiconductors, batteries, AI, and advanced manufacturing. We will continue to provide our full support to ensure that multiple projects from Purdue are successfully selected in Phase 2.”

Phase 2 results will be announced on January 1, 2026, following the submission of full research proposals by the end of November 2025.
