Nucor/Vulcraft

9 BSAC students visited the Nucor Fastener Assembly Plant and Vulcraft bar joist and metal deck fabrication plant on July, 18th in St. Joseph, Indiana.

Coreslab Structures

8 BSAC students and Dr. Chris Williams visited Coreslab Structures in Indianapolis on June 20th. Coreslab is a precast concrete manufacturer specializing in precast components for use in parking garages, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings.

Buzzi Unicem Cement Manufacturing Plant

A group of civil engineering students toured the Buzzi Unicem cement manufacturing plant in Greencastle, IN.  The tour included a walk-through of the facility with stops at the rotary kilns, slurry basins, crushing/grinding mills, and the top of the main tower which provided a view of the entire plant and safe observation of quarry blast operations.

ArcelorMittal

BSAC organized a field trip to ArcelorMittal in Burns Harbor, Indiana. ArcelorMittal is the world’s largest producer of steel, and the Burns Harbor location is one of their largest plants.

Wang Hall Construction Site (Purdue University)

Wang Hall is the new Electrical and Computer Engineering building, located on Northwestern Avenue. A group of students and faculty from Bowen Laboratory toured the construction site on June 18th, 2013.
