Graduate Students Research
Development of an integrated watershed level sustainable management tool considering the effect of climate and land use change (Chetan Maringanti)
Study the impact of land use and climate change on the agricultural ecosystem services using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool. Develop watershed management strategies, considering uncertainty quantified through a Bayesian framework, to provide optimal solutions for the selection and placement of BMPs for NPS control.

Evaluation of the effectiveness of BMPs for improving water quality in pasture dominated watersheds (Li Chi Chiang)
Evaluate the effectiveness of comprehensive BMP combinations on improving water quality at various spatial and temporal scales and quantify the individual and interaction effect among BMPs in a pasture dominated watershed. Evaluate and quantify the impacts of weather uncertainty, climate change, and land use change on BMP effectiveness in improving water quality. Quantify domain of influence of BMP implementation in agricultural watersheds.

Nutrient attenuation under natural conditions in agricultural drainage ditches (Laurent Ahiablame)
Assess the fate and transport of nutrients in drainage and natural stream environments. Understand how various biotic and abiotic processes control nutrient dynamics in drainage ditches is fundamental in anticipation of foreseeable impacts of land and drainage management options on water quality in the receiving waters. A holistic watershed management approach to improve agricultural water quality for our communities is more thoroughly achievable base on this knowledge.

Integrated assessment of impacts of land use changes associated with biofuel on ecohydrology and water quality (Shashank Singh)
Quantify the impact of biofuel crop production on ecohydrology and water quality response at various spatial and temporal scales. Predict the stream and lake ecosystem response in relation to biofuel crop production. Develop a model for evaluating structural and functional response of terrestrial, lotic, and lentic
ecosystems
