Pratt & Whitney

JT8D

The premiere engine for narrow-body jetliners in the past, the JT8D is still in production, though better engines have eclipsed it in its original application. It was the original engine on the 727 in 1964. Pratt also makes kits to bring older JT8D engines into compliance with modern noise and environmental regulations. There have been many models; these are only a sample. JT8D
