Current Research:

Dr. Rahbar’s research has focused on the evaluation of cracking performance of recycled mixtures. Specifically, binder versus mixture characterization, plant versus laboratory mix production, and the effect of long term aging on asphalt mixtures cracking properties were the areas she has been involved with. In terms of testing, her experiences include a variety of asphalt mixture testing; Complex modulus, Simplified Viscoelastic Continuum Damage (SVECD) fatigue, Disc Shaped Compact Tension (DCT), and Semi-Circular Bending (SCB) fracture tests and the related approaches and analysis. She has also gained experience in binder rheology and testing.
Her research interests include:

  • Pavement evaluation
  • Recycled materials (RAP and RAS) in asphalt concrete
  • Long term aging properties of asphalt mixtures
  • Fatigue and thermal cracking characterization of asphalt pavements
