Dr. Ashmita Biswas
I completed by Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Ramendra Sundar Dey at INST-IISER Mohali where my focus was on electrochemistry, particularly working on electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction. I also have expertise in developing inorganic, heterogenous catalyst materials. I joined Tackett group in Fall 2024 as a postdoctoral fellow and my research project concerns the electrocatalytic dehydrogenation of alkanes with the help of electrochemical mass spectrometry. In my leisure time, I love singing, watching movies, trying out new cuisines and travelling.

I joined the group in 2021 and my current research focuses on developing next-generation gas diffusion electrodes for flow cells and their applications on CO2RR and alkane dehydrogenation. In my masters, I worked with Prof. Jungkyu Choi from Korea University in Seoul, Korea where I developed hydrocarbon traps for automobile exhausts using copper-impregnated zeolites. Aside from research, I enjoy cooking, watching movies, and travelling.

My current research is on the electrochemical flow chemistry of energetic materials. At OSU, my research was focused on the synthesis and characterization of cuprous oxide photocatalysts to use in conducting oxidative homocoupling reactions. My hobbies include reading, trying to visit as many national parks as I can, dungeons and dragons and attempting gardening inside of an apartment!

My current research is on developing next-generation gas diffusion electrodes for CO2RR flow cell applications. At METU, I worked on catalytic hydrodechlorination of chlorinated contaminations with nickel exchanged zeolites. In my free time I enjoy playing musical instruments (reed flute), watching movies and going on nature walks.
