I joined Tackett group in Spring 2024, and my research mainly focuses on development of next-generation gas diffusion electrodes for flow cell applications of carbon dioxide and low temperature alkane dehydrogenation. During my MS at METU, I generally worked on catalytic hydrodechlorination of chlorinated contaminants with nickel exchanged zeolites. In my free time I enjoy playing musical instruments (reed flute), watching movies, and going on nature walks.
Chloe Arana
B.S. (2022) Michigan State University, Materials Science and Engineering
My research focuses on electrochemical production of net-zero fuels. Previously at Purdue, I worked on a project through CISTAR's summer research program focusing on propylene dehydrogenation and oligomerization pathways with a cobalt catalyst. Additionally, I worked on research at Michigan State investigating the effects of cholesterol crystallization on atherosclerotic plaque buildup via x-ray scattering analysis. In my free time I enjoy reading, watching anime, and gaming!

(Co-advised by Prof. Greeley) B.Sc. Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, University of California, Berkeley
I joined Tackett group in Fall 2023 and my research is on: Low-Temperature Electrocatalytic Manufacturing of Essential Chemical Building Blocks. In my free time I enjoy playing sports, going on car rides and trying out new food places.

(Co-advised by Prof. Stephen Beaudoin) B.S. (2023) Oklahoma State University, Chemical Engineering
My current research is on the electrochemical flow chemistry of energetic materials. At OSU, my research was focused on the synthesis and characterization of cuprous oxide photocatalysts to use in conducting oxidative homocoupling reactions. My hobbies include reading, trying to visit as many national parks as I can, dungeons and dragons, and attempting gardening inside of an apartment!

M.S. (2021) Korea University, Chemical and Biological Engineering. B.S. (2019) Korea University, Chemical and Biological Engineering.
I joined the Tackett group in the fall of 2021. My research interest is developing next-generation gas diffusion electrodes for flow cells and their application for carbon dioxide reduction and alkane dehydrogenation. I obtained my M.S. degree under the guidance of Prof. Jungkyu Choi from Korea University in Seoul, Korea. During my M.S. course, I worked on projects to develop hydrocarbon (HC) trap for automobile exhaust during a cold start period using copper-impregnated zeolites. Aside from research, I enjoy cooking, watching movies, and traveling.

Alexandra Earle
B.S. (2025) Purdue University, Chemical Engineering
My current research focuses on electropolymerization for application in gas diffusion electrodes. In the past, I have worked on two projects here at Purdue, one involving the controlled electrodeposition of metal nanoparticles through emulsion tuning and the other on overcoming activity/selectivity issues with HER competition in RRDE reduction of CO2. Additionally, I spent the summer at UW-Madison working on the fabrication and characterization of 2D material heterostructures. My other interests include watching Purdue sports, weightlifting, and anything outdoors.
Hannah Oberg
B.S. (2024) Purdue University, Chemical Engineering
My research focuses on the electrocatalytic reduction of nitrate on copper single crystals using Electrochemical Mass Spectrometry to further understand the pathway(s) this reaction takes! My past research experiences include drug synthesis, electrodialysis systems, and ion exchange membrane characterization. I am currently in the senior year of my undergraduate degree and am in the process of applying to graduate school. In my free time I love to read, drink coffee, hike, and spend time with my cat!

Matthew Schiavone
B.S. (2024) Purdue University, Chemical Engineering
My research project involves designing a teaching lab for undergraduates to demonstrate how chemical engineering fundamentals like kinetics, transport, and thermodynamics apply to electrochemical systems. I also currently research in the Chemistry Department, designing and synthesizing transparent conductive polymers. Outside of school, I enjoy cooking, reading, and playing video games.
