Graduate Research

I was born in Henan, China in 1997. After completing my high school studies in China, I attended Beloit College, Wisconsin, where I majored in Chemistry and minored in Japanese. As an undergraduate, I worked in Prof. Barry Thompson’s group at the University of Southern California during the Summer of 2018, focusing on the syntheses of amide-functionalized conjugated polymers via Direct Arylation Polymerization (DArP).

CV

Zihao Liang

Graduate Research

I’m from Hangzhou, a city in Zhejiang Province, China. I attended college at East China University of Science and Technology in Shanghai, China, where I received my B.E. in Polymer Materials and Engineering. I did my undergraduate research on the building of material gene bank for polymer materials in Prof. Jiaping Lin’s lab. Then I received my M.S. in Polymer Science at the University of Akron in Akron, OH.

CV

Ho Joong (Roy) Kim

Graduate Research

I grew up in Seoul, Republic of Korea until I moved to the United States to attend high school in Dobbs Ferry, NY. I earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from the Cooper Union. After earning a Master’s degree at Stanford University, I worked for STATS ChipPAC for 2 years as a research engineer, an experience in electronics industry which introduced me to the field of organic electronics and motivated me to pursue research in the field.

CV

Oluwafemi Ogunlalu

Graduate Research

I was born in Nigeria and have developed a conscious love for science in recent years. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry from the Federal University of Technology Akure, Nigeria and a Master’s Degree in Food Technology from the University of Reading, England – I completed both degrees with Highest Honours. I have participated in a broad array of scientific projects in Nigeria, England, Germany and America with core focus on materials for food and energy applications.

CV

Kuluni Perera

Graduate Research

I am from Sri Lanka, an island-nation in the Indian Ocean. I graduated from the University of Colombo, specializing in chemistry. My research involved the development and characterization of a potentiometric sensor for detection of zinc. I also qualified as a Graduate Chemist from the Institute of Chemistry, Ceylon. Upon graduation I was privileged to be appointed as a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate students and also as a Research Assistant. Being accepted to Purdue University for my graduate studies was a dream come true.
