Visiting Students

Carlos Alexis Ortiz Gonzalez

Carlos Ortiz is an undergraduate student in the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering at the Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá (UTP). He is currently a visiting scholar at Purdue University under the supervision of Prof. Kaushik Roy. His research focuses on the development of Deep Learning models, specifically Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), for defect pattern detection in semiconductor wafers. His academic interests extend to understanding the mathematical foundations of neural network layers to optimize the deployment of AI models onto embedded hardware systems and FPGAs.

Donghui Lee

Donghui Lee is a Ph.D. student in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at Kyungpook National University (KNU), South Korea. He is currently a visiting researcher at Purdue University, where he is working in the Nanoelectronics Research Laboratory under Prof. Kaushik Roy. His main interests include DNA sequence alignment, hardware acceleration, stochastic computing architectures, and low-power VLSI design.

Johnny Rhe

Johnny Rhe is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), South Korea. He is currently a visiting researcher at Purdue University under Prof. Kaushik Roy. His research focuses on algorithm-hardware co-design for efficient In-Memory Computing (IMC)-based Deep/Convolutional neural Networks (D/CNNs) Inference. Recently, he has expanded his research interests to transformer-based models like Vision Transformer (ViT), with the goal of improving inference efficiency in IMC systems.
