Dr. Osswald holds a dual Ph.D. degree (2008) in Materials Science and Engineering (Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA) and in Physics (Ilmenau University of Technology, Ilmenau, Germany), as well as an MBA from the Lebow College of Business (Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA). Prior to joining Purdue University, Dr. Osswald held appointments as Assistant Professor of Physics at the Naval Postgraduate School (2010-2014) in Monterey, CA, and as Postdoctoral Associate (2008-2010) in the Department of Materials Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA.
Research Interests
Chemistry and physics of nanostructures and other advanced materials, with primary focus on the development of new energy storage technologies.
