What are the program dates?

MITE (11th): July 7th – Aug 9th

What do you do in MITE?

MITE (11th):

  • Students get exposure to life as an engineering student at Purdue
  • Students focus on boosting their SAT math and verbal scores
  • Professional development workshops prepare students for college success
  • Engineering projects such as rocket launching, drone creation, and underwater vehicle construction introduce students to the different engineering disciplines
  • The engineering design process and impact of engineering activities are introduced in depth
  • Social activities help students connect with future engineers from all over the country

What is the deadline for applications?

March 31st

When will we be notified about the decision?

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Once all elements are in (transcript, recommendation, application) a decision will be made and parents will be notified.

How can I pay for MITE?

Once you have received acceptance into an SEW or Boot Camp, you will be given a link to pay.

Are scholarships available?

Yes. A scholarship application is part of the overall SEW application for the program.

Does this program offer college credit?

No college credit is given for the program

My child is not a minority. Can he/she participate?

Our programs are open to all students but they are designed specifically for minority students.

What grades are accepted into MITE?

MITE is for students completing the 11th grade in Spring 2014.

Should my child return to an MEP Summer Engineering Workshop if he/she has already attended a previous one?

SEW 6/7/8 and PREFACE are designed separately. We do not recommend repeat attendance to the SEW 6/7/8 and we recommend waiting for PREFACE. Similarly, we do not recommend repeat attendance for PREFACE and we recommend waiting for MITE.

Do the students stay on campus?

Yes. Students stay in university dorms with randomly assigned roommates and chaperones from the same gender and eat at campus dining halls.

What does the registration fee cover?

Lodging, meals, and all events that are part of the program. It does not cover travel to and from the university

My child is flying in, how does he/she get to Purdue?

If flying into Indianapolis: Two shuttle services available (Star of America and Lafayette Limo)

If flying into Chicago: Express air coach (expressaircoach.com)

Select PMU as your final destination. Contact our office prior to the workshops and we will arrange a pick up from the PMU at the designated shuttle arrival time.

My child would need to leave the program early. Can he/she still participate?

MITE and ABC requests will be handled on a case by case basis.

My child would need to arrive early to campus. How do we make accommodations?

Yes. Please let us know and we will help you arrange a room on campus. Participants must pay the cost of accommodations due to early arrivals
