In this animation, we will show $\tilde{v}_{as}$, $\tilde{i}_{as}$, $\tilde{i}'_{ar}$, and $T_e$ during three different modes of operation: 1) Free Acceleration, 2) Load Torque Switching, and 3) Frequency and Voltage Step. Each of these modes can be selected by clicking on its name in the toolbar below. For each mode, several plots are animated. For all of them, the instantaneous phasors of $\tilde{v}_{as}$, $\tilde{i}_{as}$, and $\tilde{i}'_{ar}$ are animated in Figure 1. For the Free Acceleration, a subset of Figure 8.9-1 in the text is animated. For Load Torque Switching, a subset of Figure 8.9-7 is animated (with the time of the load step shortened to aid the visual presentation). For the Frequency and Voltage Step, a subset of Figure 8.9-8 is animated, this time with the time scaled matched to the text.
To operate the animation, choose a mode of operation in the toolbar directly below and then click the "Play" button in the toolbar below Figure 1. Three play speeds can be selected from among 0.1, 1, and 10 times the nominal speed by clicking the button to the right of "Play". You can also move to a specific moment in the animation by dragging the slider left or right. To pause the animation, simply click "Pause".
