Research Implementation Featured on Fox 59

Purdue researchers recently completed JTRP Project SPR-3411, "Recovering Full Repair Costs of INDOT Infrastructure Damaged by Motor Vehicle Crashes."

As part of that project they developed procedures for law enforcement personnel to tag roadway infrastructure damaged by the crash so that repair costs could be subsequently invoiced to the proper individuals (http://dx.doi.org/10.5703/1288284314624). In the Spring of 2011, the Indiana Department of Transportation partnered with Indiana State Police and local law enforcement agencies to deploy implement the research recommendations. This implementation was featured in both the February 20-26, 2012 Indiana Business Journal (http://www.ibj.com) as well as Fox 59 (http://www.fox59.com/videogallery/68298850/News/state-bills-for-car-crashes).

A summary of INDOT's implementation has also appeared in the Indianapolis Star (http://www.indystar.com/usatoday/article/38715537?odyssey=mod%7Cnewswell%7Ctext%7CNews%7Cp).
