C-V2X: The Future of Connected and Autonomous Transportation
Emerging C-V2X (Cellular vehicle to everything) technology uses cellular networks to enable communication between vehicles and infrastructure.
This project investigated the current state of V2X technologies in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. A geocast-based prototype system, named RampCast, was implemented using a software-defined radio approach. The RampCast algorithms were developed and demonstrated with sub-100 ms latency and a range of up to 2,500 ft for C-V2X to transmit critical messages and traffic guidance. The report provides recommendations regarding future implementation and partnership opportunities with OEMS.
