Congratulations to our current academic chair, Gurkreet Sodhi on his graduation! Taking over for him for the Spring 2020 semester, is Chen Feng, a 3rd year PhD. student in the Industrial Engineering Department. Very excited to welcome him to the team!
IEGSO hosted the first speaker in the IE Young Alumni Speaker Series. We welcomed Dr. Harsh Wardhan Aggarwal to share his insights and experiences with resume editing and maintaining an online professional presence using LinkedIn.
Dr. Aggarwal is currently an HCI Discipline Scientist at NASA Johnson Space Center, in-charge of the mitigation of risk to crew performance and health during space missions. He is also the co-founder of a professional mentoring and consulting firm which helps college students succeed in their career. Previously, Dr. Aggarwal was a data scientist at Schlumberger working towards improving drilling efficiency and developing intelligent systems to track and predict drilling behavior. He was also involved in project management, hiring and training of software developers and data scientists. His current research interests include judgment analysis, decision making using big data, HCI and crew safety. Dr. Aggarwal has a Ph.D. (’18), MS (’12) and BS (’10) in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University.
The IEGSO Mentor-Mentee program has been off to a great start this semester with an ice-cream social! Our students are learning a lot more from their peers and ready to take on the semester. Additional Mentor-Mentee meetups will be happening this semester, so keep an eye out for them!
The IEGSO extends a heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Hua Cai for winning the Outstanding Mentor Award for the 2017-2018 Academic year.
