Cassandra McCormack is a current PhD candidate in GROUPER. She graduated from Purdue University with a BS in Industrial Engineering and a minor in Psychology in 2019. In 2021, she received an MS in Industrial Engineering, also from Purdue University. Her thesis presented a case design of the information architecture and user experience elements of an adaptable online learning environment designed for a systems engineering course with highly interconnected material. Her research interests focus on taking a systems and user-centered approach to the design and evaluations of interfaces in complex system environments, including both healthcare and education systems. Her dissertation topic explores the design and evaluation of the digital interface associated with a wearable continuous monitoring device in a sleep health application to empower patient self-care and decision-making. The characteristics of the biomarker(s) being monitored are distinct from those of biomarkers that have been previously subjected to continuous monitoring (e.g., heart rate, interstitial glucose, blood pressure). Thus, there are novel challenges in data and information presentation to support accurate and timely interpretation by subject-matter novices.

Lacey Davis is a current PhD student in GROUPER. She graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly SLO), with a BS in Aerospace Engineering and a minor in Dance in 2020. At Cal Poly, she was actively involved in student projects ranging from test driving a prototype solar car, training and performing with Cal Poly's dance company, leading a Venus rover design team, and organizing outreach events for local middle schools. In 2022, she received her MS in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at Purdue University with coursework focused on astrodynamics and aerospace systems engineering. Her research evaluates distributed team performance in human spaceflight mission operations and task coordination to develop concept of operations (CONOPs) and requirements for information presentation systems. Her dissertation will use this research to develop a proof-of-concept extended/virtual reality (XR/VR) training tool that implements high fidelity mission operating environments featuring state uncertainty and communication latencies between the crew and ground support.

I am passionate about applying collaborative approaches, critical thinking, creativity, and self-motivation to the design of innovative and inclusive technologies.
