The College of Engineering, with support from its schools and the University, is taking actions to increase College-wide minimum and median PhD student assistantship stipend levels.
The planned stipend elevation will be implemented during the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 fiscal years. These actions represent initial steps toward stipend augmentation; the College will continue to evaluate stipend levels on a regular basis with the intent of furthering the level of competitiveness.
THE INCREASES WILL SUPPORT THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES WITHIN THE COLLEGE:
- Recruit and retain talented PhD students to support the College’s research and instructional missions.
- Enhance discipline-specific stipend competitiveness with top-ranked peers.
- Ensure that stipends are compatible with cost-of-living increases.
