To all MSE Graduate Students and Postdocs,

The MSE Graduate Student Association wants to welcome everyone back to campus for the fall semester and ask for the help of all our students, faculty, and postdocs in welcoming the department’s newest cohort. Orientation for first year students will take place next Monday, August 15th, and there will be social events throughout the week to kick off the new year. Read on to find dates and times for all our programming.

(8/15-4pm) Ice cream social: Meet on the north side of the engineering fountain at 4pm to enjoy some ice cream and catch up. This is a great chance to meet the new class or reconnect with colleagues and faculty who you haven’t seen over the summer.

(8/16-8pm) Trivia at The Tap: The Tap in Chauncey Village hosts weekly trivia games starting at 8pm, quizzing on everything from world history to 90’s TV. Join the MSE team to enjoy some bar snacks and shoot for 1st place.

(8/17-7pm) Sand Volleyball: Meet at Pickett Park (northwest corner of the CoRec fields) at 7pm for sand volleyball.

(8/18-5pm) Barbeque at Dr. Kvam’s (KvamBQ): Dr. Kvam will host students and faculty for a barbeque starting at 5pm. Hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken, and vegetarian options will be provided by the GSA, but participants are encouraged to bring snacks, drinks, lawn chairs, and lawn games.
