Over the past year, the NAWI leadership team has been creating a NextGen program for early-career researchers in the water community. We are excited to invite you, and your research teams, to the NAWI NextGen unconference sessions which will take place during the NAWI Spring Meeting<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwhova.com%2Fportal%2Fregistration%2Fnsvc_202106&data=04%7C01%7CMatthew.Ringer%40nrel.gov%7Cc9671eddf4024e8caacb08d90a8a9356%7Ca0f29d7e28cd4f5484427885aee7c080%7C0%7C0%7C637552412725817894%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=zS2QmkY4NHsD7XN4YsKvu3mDCkhjBz72BjivRpVieP0%3D&reserved=0>, May 4-5th, 2021. PIs, graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and early career scientists across the NAWI Alliance are invited to learn how this program will cultivate rising water professionals and enable them to drive future research and development in the water-energy sector.

Aims and goals of the NAWI NextGen program:

1.            Unite early-career members of the NAWI Alliance to create a nationwide-community of rising water-energy innovators;

2.            Foster the principles of diversity and inclusion;

3. Accelerate the development of NextGen members through mentorship, academic and industrial partnerships, inter-institutional research, and professional development resources and events; and,

4. Engage with NAWI leadership on research, outreach, and developmental needs of the future workforce, including diversity, inclusion, and access.
