Important EPICS Week 6 Announcements

Students - there are many extracurricular opportunities coming up this semester as described below. Reach out to your advisors to see if they would be an appropriate PDH for your team. You can submit the Advisor Approved Activity Form<https://sharepoint.ecn.purdue.edu/epics/teams/Public%20Documents/Advisor_approved_activity_credit.doc> to get credit.
Also, skill sessions have booked quickly this semester, but we will offer additional sessions in the second half of the semester. Let your TA know if you have requests for specific topics.

Design Documents - Due on the day of your lab this week!

*         A PDF of the design documents should be submitted by the end of day that your lab is held to give our design reviewers time to read them.

*         You can continue to update and overwrite the document throughout the semester.

*         Upload instructions: https://engineering.purdue.edu/EPICS/teams/team-documents/design-doc-upload-instructions

Design Reviews - Feb 19-22

*         Dress code is business casual or better.

*         Plan to use the podium PC, not your personal laptop. Preferably bring your presentation on a flash drive.

*         Do not log in/out of the podium PC with your personal account.

*         Leave the GoToMeeting session on and do not adjust the screen sharing.

*         Teams are responsible for inviting their community partners and any guest reviewers from on-campus (faculty, etc.).

o   Be sure to let the EPICS office know which guests are coming so we can get them parking passes

Purdue Journal of Service Learning - Submissions due Feb 15
Ever considered publishing on your EPICS work? Publication in the Fall 2019 issue of the journal requires that abstract submissions be received no later than Feb. 15 and complete article submissions no later than April 1. Submissions are made directly to the PJSL website. Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis, and those received after the deadlines will be considered for the following 2020 issue.

Purdue Service Learning Summit - Registration due Feb 22
The 2019 Summit will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2019, 1:00 - 5:00 PM and is hosted by the Office and Engagement and Purdue Honors College. This event serves to bring together faculty, students, staff, and community partners to discuss best practices in engagement and service-learning; highlight accomplishments; and increase collaboration opportunities. This year, the event will feature two interactive sessions: a beginning track on critical listening and partnership formation and an advanced track on developing engaged scholarship. A showcase in conjunction with networking and hors d'oeuvres will close the event.

Greater Lafayette Mini Maker Faire - March 2nd - Presented by EPICS partner Imagination Station
The Greater Lafayette Mini Maker Faire is putting out a special call to EPICS teams to come and share their work with the community. Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these "makers" to show hobbies, experiments, projects. We call it the Greatest Show (& Tell) on Earth - a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness. See attached flyer for details.

Celebrate Purdue's Thinkers, Creators, and Experimenters - Registration due Feb 19
"Celebrate Purdue's Thinkers, Creators, and Experiments" ("Celebrate...") allows undergrads in research or creative endeavors to engage attendees by showcasing their work in this up-close symposium. This "non-poster, poster session" encourages participants to bring their research to the Co-Rec for attendees to learn what they are working on through the five senses.
