Design Storm – Invite your friends. It’s not too late to Register!
This competition, open to all Purdue students, will challenge teams of up to 5 students to create concepts and prototypes for cooking, pumping water, storing food and medicine, and providing communications in the wake of a major natural disaster. These concepts will be further developed throughout the semester by the new Natural Disaster Preparedness EPICS team. Three PDHs will be awarded to all participating EPICS students and prizes will be award to the best designs in several categories.

Student Service Learning Grants - Due Feb 7
Purdue’s Office of Engagement provides grants to students or student organizations for work on community service learning projects.
This program’s goal is to expand the community involvement of Purdue students in partnership with communities, nonprofit agencies, schools, and governmental bodies.

Entrepreneurship Series - Starts Tomorrow Wednesday Jan 17.
Dr. Nathalie Duval Couetil of the Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program will kickoff the series, introducing basic concepts of entrepreneurship and resources available to students at Purdue. Register in MyEPICS.

Required PDHs for First-Semester EPICS Students
First time EPICS students are required to complete five PDHs that teach the basics of the design process. The first two should be done by the end of this week.
1.       Intro to EPICS – Should be completed before your first lab. Watch the YouTube playlist<https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLc0ibrJx9X0nupwJAyql2G1nJySiF0k-3> and submit attendance in MyEPICS.
2.       Wallet Exercise – There are two options to complete the wallet exercise.
o   You can attend any one of several in-person sessions hosted this week by the EPICS TAs. Find the schedule and register in MyEPICS<https://engineering.purdue.edu/MyEpics>.
o   If you cannot attend, you can do the make-up Gift Giving activity<https://engineering.purdue.edu/EPICS/purdue/individual-documents/professional-development>.

Purdue Society of Professional Engineers - Volunteers Needed
Every year PSPE hosts MATHCOUNTS, a nationwide middle school mathematics competition, at Purdue. This year the competition will take place on February 3rd, 2018, and we need approximately 60 volunteers. The volunteer work primarily consists of scoring the math tests and helping us determine winners for the contest.  Sign up at
