Today's Weekly Update at 3pm ET will feature a research talk by Priyanka Baloni, Ass’t Prof., Health & Human Sciences, Purdue. Next Monday, Feb. 20th we will have the third session of the Grant Writing Professional Development series with students and postdocs working through aims page examples by EMBRIO graduate students Jazzmin Owens and Peter Brumm (these draft aims will be shared with you today or tomorrow).

ABIDES Open Office TODAY 2:30 - 3 pm via Zoom before our Weekly Update. This is an opportunity for anyone to chat with Anjali about ABIDES-related issues - concerns, questions, things you'd like to see improved, etc. The first meet-up will be Today at this link: https://purdue-edu.zoom.us/j/91942543564


Reminders:

Purdue Faculty: If you desire an EMBRIO supported summer undergrad researcher, but have not yet completed the REU request survey<https://forms.gle/7b6H1UZxAirbwGb59>, please do this today! You can list an undergrad you've identified, or recruit through the SURF applicant pool (I will post your project for you). Either way, EMBRIO supported REU students will participate in the SURF program, which has a deadline of this Wed., Feb. 15 for student applicants.

Students and postdocs can join the ABIDES monthly informal meeting  in person and through Zoom. Learn about things happening in EMBRIO and talk about a monthly theme (mentoring, careers, making science accessible, etc)! Lunches are BYO.

     *   Thursday, Feb 16, 12 – 1 pm ET in DLR (Discovery Learning Research) Room 228c (EMBRIO Suite)
     *   Theme: Introductions and what do you want from ABIDES this year?

Starting this Month 2/20 at 11am ET: Calcium Imaging Techniques Journal Club

EMBRIO Student Leadership Council Call for Postdocs and Undergrads

Calling postdocs and undergrads to help lead student efforts through the newly formed EMBRIO Student Leadership Council. The SLC is in the early stages with graduate trainees organizing the council. The SLC is recruiting postdocs and undergrads to join the council leadership. Please reach out to Feyisayo Akande fakande at purdue.edu and David Gazzo dgazzo at nd.edu.
