Hello ECE folks,

I hope you all had a fantastic summer and are ready to kick off the fall semester.

Every year during the first week of classes, the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering holds a number of Welcome Back Week events for you start some informal discussions with our students and just have some fun.  Below you will find a list of events planned for the week of August 21-25, and I strongly encourage you to partake in as many of these events as you wish as the ECE Student Society has worked very hard all summer on putting these events together for you.   Please look over these events, feel free to put a team together for the scavenger hunt and/or escape rooms, and let me know which of these you can attend by filling out the link at bottom.


Monday, August 21st

This faculty and student Meet & Greet is an informal opportunity to meet our new and seasoned faculty, discuss what they are working on and what research you could possibly get involved in.  Refreshments will be available.

Where is the ECE parts shop?  Where do professors go after their classes?  Where can you find ECESS members ready to help you? Who are Ben Manning, Mark Johnson, and Smita Sarma and why should you know them?   This is a fun way to run around the MSEE/BHEE area inside and out to find all the locations you are going to need to know in the upcoming semester.  Join on your own or grab some friends and go on this exciting scavenger hunt with three new locations released daily. Find the spot, take a pic and upload to get points.  At the end of the week, your points will get you some fun ECE merchandise which you can pick up at the Friday night Movie Night.

Walk the red carpet as you are the stars of ECE!  Take some paparazzi shots of fellow students and a few selfies of your own as you join the cast of ECE for a viewing of Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse! You are encouraged to dress to theme to make this event extra special.  Enjoy the end of the first week of classes, grab some pizza and popcorn, and play some trivia before sitting back and watching the widely-acclaimed movie Into the Spiderverse.  This is also where scavenger hunt prizes will be available.  RSVP advised (if you want to eat 😊)
