ECEA [] ECE Student Welcome Day and First Meeting of Fall semester

  Hello Ambassadors,

To those of you who have been away for the summer, welcome back to
campus! I hope all of you are ready to start a new semester filled with
exciting ECEA events.

The first event to kick off the semester is the ECE Student Welcome Day.
The department would like to make this second annual event even better
than last year, and has requested our help to make this happen. Please
see the e-mail from Carrie (attached below) to learn more details about
the events of the day. She would like to have 6-7 ambassadors for each
of the two shifts on Friday. I have set up a spreadsheet for sign up,
please follow the link below to list your name under one (or both) of
the shifts if you can participate. Don't forget to save the changes to
the spreadsheet after adding your name:

There will be a meeting next Thursday with Carrie for all volunteers to
coordinate the different roles. She would like to have the names of the
volunteers by Monday, so please sign up as soon as you can after reading
this email.

There is also a need for a student MC for the event. Carrie has all the
events planned out and will meet with the MC volunteer to explain in
detail what he/she needs to introduce throughout the event. Please
e-mail me by Monday if you would like to fill in this role.

Last but not least, mark your calendars for August 31st (Tuesday) at
5:30 pm for our first meeting of the semester. As always, attendance is
mandatory, but if you cannot make it to the meeting please send Dan
Aguiar (daguiar at purdue.edu) an email in advance.

Good afternoon ECE Faculty and Staff!

We would like to invite you to volunteer this year at our 2nd Annual Student Welcome Day event, scheduled for Friday, August 27, at 11:30am - 1:30 pm in the Purdue Mall just outside MSEE.  Your response to me by August 18, 2010  would be greatly appreciated.

This year we'll be providing lunch, giveaways to students, raffle prizes, and a special performance by the Purduettes on the steps of the MSEE building! The Student Welcome Day event was created in 2009 as a way to welcome new and returning students back to the ECE family, developing a greater sense of community as we kickoff the academic year.

Because of the support of our faculty , staff and student ambassadors, we were able to schedule just the right amount of volunteers to make this event happen!
We hope that you will once again extend your support to our students and assist us in staffing the 2010 ECE Student Welcome Day.


  There are two shifts available 11:30am - 12:30pm and 12:30pm - 1:30pm. Positions available include the following;

Welcome Table and Registration - 12
(Help us welcome and distribute giveaways, resource id cards and information)

Faculty Dunk Tank - 4
(Each ECE student is given a Free shot to dunk one of our ECE professors!)

Dunk Tank Assistant - 4
(Assist the faculty member in the dunk tank by managing the line of students at the dunk tank)

Greeting and Networking - 10
(mingle with ECE Students and welcome them to our ECE community)
