[Che-student-staff-list] Monday Power Outage

Good morning,

Due to the power outage on Monday, we would ask you to do the following at the end of the day with your ECN supported machines: Please reboot the system and leave it at the log on screen (don't log back on) and then on Wednesday log back in.

For those that were not aware, Monday afternoon FRNY, as well as much of campus and West Lafayette, had a brief power outage.  This of course resulted in all computers shutting off.  When power was restored some computers came back on their own and others had to be manually powered back on.  For Faculty and Staff computers I checked most late Monday (and a few this morning) to turn them back on if they were still off.

If you were here on Monday and tried to immediately log back on via your ECN supported machine, you likely had issues accessing your normal 'drives' - this is because Atom didn't come back as fast as the PC's.  A reboot followed by a 3-5 minute wait (after the log on screen has appeared) before logging back in should sort out most drive mapping issues.

You may also want to check any machines in labs that are normally left on all the time as they may very well still be off.
